Rainbow Trout, also nicknamed the Steelhead Trout, is a common fish in Lake Superior. In the spring and fall, Bows can be caught along the shoreline and in front of creeks that flow into Nipigon Bay. They spawn in the spring and then come back into the streams in the fall to feed on the millions of eggs that the salmon drop.
During the summer, Rainbow Trout can be caught down deeper in among the hundreds of islands in Nipigon Bay. They are common in the 2 to 7 pound range
